Introduction

Laurentian Wetland is one of Kitchener’s most valuable natural areas and forms part of a Provincially Significant Wetland. The wetland provides important habitat for birds, amphibians, insects, and native plants while helping improve water quality and reduce flooding.

Visitors can experience this unique ecosystem by exploring peaceful trails and boardwalks that allow people to enjoy the wetland while protecting its sensitive environment.

Things To Do

Explore the boardwalks and walking trails while observing birds, frogs, turtles, dragonflies, and seasonal wildflowers. Bring binoculars for birdwatching or simply enjoy the quiet atmosphere that makes the wetland one of Kitchener’s hidden natural gems.

The changing seasons provide new experiences year-round, from spring wildlife activity to colourful autumn foliage.

Laurentian Wetland is located in south Kitchener and can be accessed from several trailheads surrounding the wetland. Limited parking is available near access points, with additional connections via neighbourhood pathways.

By Transit: Grand River Transit routes serve nearby neighbourhoods, with a short walk to trail entrances.

	Please stay out of ponds and wetland areas. Swimming, wading, and fishing are not permitted to help protect sensitive wildlife and habitats.
	Dogs are welcome where permitted but must remain on leash.
	Cycling is permitted only on designated shared-use trails where posted. Please yield to pedestrians and remain on marked routes.

Camping, fires, hunting, collecting plants or animals, dumping waste, and the use of motorized vehicles are prohibited. Please stay on designated trails and boardwalks to help protect this sensitive wetland ecosystem.
